Emet Rotter was a non-corporeal Riftling born as the result of the Dweller and his human host, Joshua Rallus, "dying" and merging together to form a new being. The name "Emet Rotter" was given to him during a Facebook chat. Emet was described as a vessel for spreading the Dweller's influence.
The Angel's Game[]
Emet, as of then unnamed, first came into being when the Dweller attempted to prevent Josh Rallus from committing suicide, which resulted in the two merging and becoming a new being. Having access to Josh's accounts, the new entity communicated with Josh's followers, who gave him the name "Emet Rotter". Emet then donned a gas mask and set a challenge for the Creature and the Other, the enemies of his previous self.

On April 9th, 2011, Emet met with the Other under a bridge. As Emet began to approach him, the Creature arrived and the two engaged in a battle with an unknown outcome. He later made claims to have stolen the Creature's tie, likely prior to the event. Emet also began interacting with Stephen Patrick, who also had access to Josh's accounts. One day, Emet told Stephen to bring his camera to school, seemingly knowing that he would encounter Austin there. Before Stephen could kill Austin as an act of revenge for killing Alana Hudson, Emet arrived and stopped him. After this, Emet continued to follow Stephen around and took over Josh's accounts periodically.

On April 30th, Emet, the Creature, and the Other all arrived at Stephen's house and had their final confrontation. Emet fought with the Other on the dock behind the house whilst Stephen fought his way through a pack of the Creature's reanimated zombies. When Stephen reached the dock, Emet was being thrown down by Austin, who then removed the masks of both himself and Emet. Austin, momentarily freed from the Creature's control, attacked the Creature, which resulted in them both falling into the lake. Emet then turned to Stephen and told him "it's over" before walking away.

During the final days of the Angel's Game, Emet had also implanted a portion of the Dweller's power within Stephen, which had been divided from himself in such a way that it would become a Riftling hybrid and assimilate his mind. Using the power of the Rift, he also left a portion of the Dweller's power in Alana Hudson by implanting it into her before her death. The power placed within Stephen and Alana resulted in the creation of the Collector and the Dreamer respectively. Emet had created them with the intention that the Collector would "collect" the Dreamer when Stephen visited Alana's house, the site of a Rift, to mourn her death.

After he was finished, Emet used the Rift to travel to an alternate universe, where he possessed the body of RHO 3, a member of the SMD's RHO Squad, until he encountered that universe's Josh Harris, who had been sent to kill RHO 3 as part of a deal with the Collector. When Josh did so, Emet took on Josh's body as a host. When Josh later killed the Collector as well, the Dreamer also entered Josh's body. The Creature, having taken over Austin's body after falling into the lake, which actually contained a Rift, then attacked Josh but was overpowered by the combination of Emet and the Dreamer.
Emet later contributed to a note the Dreamer left for the Collector to find at Josh's abandoned house, which informed him of a hidden post left on his blog by the Dreamer, as well as a blog named Bellicose Academy. In his part of the note, Emet claimed to be the "seventh Emet Rotter" and told Collector that, like before, the Game's end was inevitable. The envelope containing the note also contained the yarn doll that once belonged to the Other and a lighter. Emet then assimilated both Josh and the Dreamer to become the Dweller Reborn. The Reborn seemingly allied himself with the Creature and the Outcast in order to activate Phase-3, which Collector later stated he believed to have been Emet's true goal all along. However, the Reborn would later prove this notion to be untrue.

- The name "Emet" means "truth" and is Hebrew in origin. The name "Rotter" is British slang, meaning a worthless, unpleasant, or despicable person.
- Amongst the other names voted on for this entity's name were Jubileus, Remiel, and Met, the third of which is also Hebrew in origin, meaning "death". Emet and Rotter were the two top voted names in that order, and thus became the entity's new name. The name "Emet" was chosen by the chat member tashvi.
- The word "Emet" is written on a golem's forehead to bring it to life. By removing the 'e' to change "truth" into "death", one can deactivate it.
- On Collector's blog, the Dreamer referred to Emet as "the warrior".
